    Spring Boot

GeeCON 2014 - Spring Boot

When the Spring Framework saw the light of day, it was a real revolution in relation to the Java Enterprise Edition. However, in recent years the first has been growing and the second has been adding more and more default functionalities by which the gap between them is blurred.

Fortunately lastly Spring Boot has appeared, which is a milestone towards further simplifying application development. Mechanisms such as autoconfiguration or integrated application server again made the takeover and left the competition far behind.

During this presentation Jakub will briefly describe the main features of this product, and we will learn about its basic elements. We will also see how it can be used in existing applications using Spring.

    Mutation testing

Confitura 2013 - Mutation testing: how good your tests really are?

Standard code coverage analysis provides insight into execution paths exercised by a testing scheme. Mutation testing takes this notion a step further and offers a deep down investigation (through code modification or removal) of the impact each line of production code makes on the whole test. This approach has been known for over 30 years circling mainly within academic communities and only recently has it been rediscovered and introduced to the benefit of commercial solutions. Mutation testing technique which focuses on partitioning the code on per line basis with regards to influence on the logic put under test provides actual (as opposed to artificial and synthetic) view on tests quality.
